Shildon Railway Institute Membership

As with any community-based organisation, Shildon Railway Institute relies upon having a strong membership in order to thrive. This has been true since the day the Institute started back in 1833; the members are the cornerstone of our organisation. Applications for membership are open to any person over the age of 16, though of course young members are unable to buy drink on the premises until they reach 18 years of age and are subject to the restrictions detailed on our license

Shildon Railway Institute Members can benefit from discounts on booking the Function Hall or Hackworth Lounge and are also eligible for time-limited member-only promotions and events. When you become a member you can also be assured that you are supporting the future of this remarkable asset of the town and that you have a share and vote at member meetings of in member ballots.

You can pick up a membership application form from the Institute: there is a box of forms on display in the entrance foyer, or just ask our friendly and helpful staff.

The annual charges for membership are as follows:

• New membership: (first year): £5.00
• Annual renewals: £5.00

Membership runs on a fixed annual cycle covering each calendar year ending December 31st so whenever you join your membership will run to the end of the current year.

Applications for new membership are subject to acceptance. When we receive your application we will aim to process it within 30 days after which you should be able to collect your membership card. Detailed terms of membership are available here
