Here at Shildon Railway Institute we like to try different things and to put on the kinds of shows that aren't happening anywhere else in town.

We also like a hint of nostalgia - and when it comes to music, nothing says nostalgia quite like the majestic sounds, and exceptional musicianship of the big band era.

That's why we're delighted to be welcoming the Darlington Big Band to 'the Stute' for what promises to be a superb and exciting night of big band music. Band leader and tenor saxophonist, Richie Emerson, will be putting his boys through their paces for your entertainment and choosing favourites from their extensive repertiore of pieces from the big band decades.

Members of this band have been playing together since their days in a youth band in the 1970 and the band has held together through thick and thin ever since - evoking the rich sounds of Count Basie, Stan Kenton and many may other leading musicians from the era.

It's the kind of evening, and music, our Main Hall is just crying out for, and we just know you'll really enjoy it in this setting.

Doors will open at 7:30pm

This event is open to people aged 17+ (NB: Alcoholic drinks will be purchasable only by those aged 18 or over)
